As lockdown measures continue and so do the daily messages to keep safe, stay at home and maintain social distancing, we are looking for ways to sustain the human connection that many of us crave. This includes helping a large number of people who cannot stay at home – the frontline workers that work tirelessly to ensure that we are provided with the essential services needed throughout this pandemic, and of course the NHS staff who are putting the nation’s health before their own.
At TLC Marketing we are passionate about giving back to our community in any way that we can, by using our creative skills, marketing know-how and connections. We are very proud to be partnering with One Million Meals, a non-profit organisation with the huge goal of feeding frontline and NHS workers with (you guessed it!) one million warm, tasty and nutritious meals. Much more appealing than a packet of crisps from the vending machine.
One Million Meals are a small team of volunteers and social entrepreneurs working to deliver this ambitious project through the help of fundraising on GoFundMe, as well as the help of brands such as Yakult, Biotiful and Innocent donating their products. The delivery of those precious meals is possible via restaurant partners signing up to their platform as a supplier. Hospitals can also sign up directly to the platform to start receiving meals from their local restaurants.
The not-for-profit organisation also want the whole local community to get behind this. “We want them to involve their neighbours, family, friends and local businesses to feed the NHS staff at their local hospital.” Something we can all do from the safety of our homes to help.
Donations from the GoFundMe page and businesses are crucial for sustaining this operation and ensuring they can meet the growing demand from hospitals and workers. As the demand for hot meals is exceeding supply, we are encouraging our clients to be part of this initiative and donate to One Million Meals however you can – through volunteers, product, fundraising or donations. Quite rightly they have already received a huge amount of press coverage in the UK and support from some familiar names, like David Beckham and Amir Khan. We want to help spread the word further. It’s the least we feel we can do for the people who are taking care of us in such a critical time.
This is our opportunity as agencies and organisations to show our thanks through a small gesture in between long shifts. Through this, we can ensure that One Million Meals can continue their fantastic work and keep our heroes fed daily, without a break.

We have managed to plug into 203 locations (NHS trusts, hospitals, agencies) across the UK. So far, we have managed to serve more than 47 NHS hospitals by delivering more than 5,000 meals to doctors, nurses, paramedics and other key workers on the frontline risking their lives.
