With studies saying that five is the ideal number of people to enjoy a conversation with, the GUINNESS team is launching the perfect pop-up pub for five friends to catch up this Christmas.
- Whilst pints are free, spaces are limited, so those hoping to visit must sign up via Design My Night
- The pop-up pub is open for four days between Thursday 5th and Sunday 8th December in London
- The pub is modelled on Brits’ idea of the perfect pub, complete with cheesy Christmas tunes, board games and a cosy fireplace
The GUINNESS team is opening a pint-sized pub big enough to fit just five friends this festive season. Complete with a cosy fireplace, cracking Christmas tunes and plenty of board games, punters can enjoy a perfectly poured pint of Guinness with their closest pals.
The perfect Pint-Sized Pub comes as recent data reveals that over half (55%) of Brits prefer the run up to Christmas to the big day itself and as psychologists at the University of London prove five is the perfect number to enjoy a meaningful conversation with.
Despite 53% of Brits saying their favourite festive activity is hanging out with friends, 48% say they find it hard to make time, with work dos (40%), family parties (30%) and even nativity plays (17%) getting in the way. The GUINNESS team’s pop-up pub gives people the opportunity to do what they really want to do – celebrate Christmas and catch up with close friends over a pint in the perfect pub.
Located in London’s Flat Iron Square, The GUINNESS team have designed the pop-up based on the things Brits say they most look for in a pub. With a cosy fire to warm up next to (57%), good beer (48%) and traditional bar snacks (23%) topping the list, guests who book a one-hour slot can enjoy both with their closest friends.
Doors are set to open between 5th and 8th December in London’s Flat Iron Square and pints* of The Black Stuff are totally free.
The news comes as Dr Gillian Forrester, Psychologist at the University of London, reveals that five is the perfect number of people to hang out with in order to enjoy a meaningful conversation.
Dr Gillian Forrester, SFHEA, Reader in Psychology, says: “Research shows that five is the optimum number of people to hang out with at any one time. Larger groups don’t lend themselves to a deeper level of bonding that small gatherings afford. The closer social bonds found in small close-knit groups promotes successful collaborations – whether it be sport, cooking or enjoying a pint of Guinness during the holiday season”.
A spokesperson at GUINNESS, says: “Given that 55% of people prefer the run up to Christmas to the day itself, we wanted to do something that would help people do what they actually want to do this festive season – catch up with friends over a pint.
“Too often we find that work and general life get in the way of hanging out with our closest mates, so hopefully this pub gives people the much-needed chance to enjoy quality GUINNESS time together.”
