Golf’s most prestigious major, The Open Championship, returned to Northern Ireland for the first time in 68 years! With up to 250,000 fans expected to visit Portrush and even more watching at home, Elevator and client, Elly Hunter of Tayto felt Tayto needed to be part of the welcome for visitors from around the world.

Elevator planned and delivered a co-ordinated week of activity starting with Belfast International Airport where passengers arriving off a Florida flight were met with complimentary cases of Tayto on the luggage carousel.

Two days later, passengers arriving at George Best City Airport, Belfast, were welcomed with free packs of Tayto and Tayto’s striking yellow baseball caps.

Team Tayto also targeted Belfast’s bus and rail stations to make passengers travelling on Translink’s special bus and rail services #TAYTOHAPPY with packs of Tayto Cheese & Onion and baseball caps

And over the weekend of The Open, Tayto ambassadors set up a Tayto Welcome hub at Portrush train station to welcome passengers arriving on special rail services.

The campaign delivered huge levels of social media reach and engagement and Elevator’s video of the activation has already been viewed more than 30,000 times across Tayto’s social media platforms.

Sara Callanan, Managing Director at Elevator Promotional Marketing, said: “It’s been an absolute whirlwind this week, but also fantastic to be able to align an iconic Northern Ireland brand so closely with this landmark event for Northern Ireland!”
